Frederic Geurts is a Flemish artist. He studied product development in Genk. He has been active as an artist since the late 80s. His work consists of monumental, but very fragile structures. From 2005 till 2013, he lectured at PHL, Hasselt.

KIOSK KOUTER IN GHENT

Project Description

The Kouter is a square in the center of the Flemish city of Ghent. Older names for this square are “Paardenmarkt”, and “Place d’Armes”. The square was traditionally used not only for all kinds of celebrations, but also for people’s congresses in the city. Since 1772, a flower market is held on Sundays. During the Ghent Festival is the location of the “Ball 1900”.

E.ON POWER STATION PLANT

Project Description

The power station of Langerlo was built in 1976, with two units powered by fuel oil. In 1986, the power station was converted to a coal power station, due to its proximity to the coal mines located in Genk. Since mining activity in Belgium declined and ceased in 1992 with the closing of the last mine in Zolder, the power station in Langerlo remained the last one driven by coal. In 1997 and 1999 the power station was enlarged. In 1999 the fume and gas purification was expanded and 2 gas turbines were built. Today the power station has a capacity of 556 MW, driven by a mix of coal, biomass(pellets) and gas.

KILLYBEGS IMMERSED PIER LEGS

Project Description
The application of ZINGA on the pier legs at Killybegs Harbour was done in the summer of 2000.

The customer, the Irish Department of Marine and Natural Resources, and the contractor, SAR Marine & General, waited a full year before giving any official comment on the performance of the ZINGA coating.

Based on regular controls, they confirmed that the ZINGA is performing very well.

PSA LIGHTING MASTS

Project Description

PSA (Port of Singapore Authority), is the 4th largest port in the world and the second busiest after Rotterdam. ZINGA was selected to be coated on 30 lighting masts.

LAMU PORT REBARS

Project Description

The Kenya Lamu Port is the gate way for Southern Sudan -Ethiopia Transport Corridor (LAPSSET).

ZINGA is applied at 40 µm DFT on the rebars in all reinforced concrete structures.

AKASOMBO DAM

Project Description

The Akosombo Dam (also referred to as the Akosombo Hydroelectric Project), is a hydroelectric dam on the Volta River in southeastern Ghana in the Akosombo gorge and part of the Volta River Authority.

In 2012 the application on 10.000 m² of the Zingametall coatings started following the approval in 2010.

The penstocks were coated in duplex system tested according ISO 12944:

Pictures of the Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro. The iron roof and the ornaments above the entrance have been treated with ZINGA. The theatre is a copy of the Opera in Paris. The lean-off roof above the box-office was heavily corroded and therefore very unsafe for the public

EXXON MOBIL OIL STORAGE TANK

This floating crude-oil storage tank is located in an area called Fawley, one of Esso’s biggest refineries in the United Kingdom, which is actually south of Southampton on the south coast of England. On the pictures you can see the roof of an floating crude-oil storage tank project of Exxon Mobil, the photos show the true scale of the project.

ALCOA LTD

Project Description

Alcoa LTD is a worldwide producer of, among others, aluminium. One of the places where they produce aluminium is Point Henry in Australia. Because this production takes up a lot of energy, they produce it themselves in a power plant running on coal in Anglesea, Australia. ZINGA has been used on water trays that are placed at the inside of cooling towers. This application took place in Anglesea.

DANGOTE GREENVIEW CEMENT BAGGING PLANT

Project Description

This cement plant that is property of the Dangote Group has been treated with ZINGA. The high quality solution that ZINGA is, has been chosen after the new plant (without ZINGA) started corroding after only 3 years.

EL SALAAM BRIDGE

Project Description

The treatment of the El Salaam Bridge in Egypt, was part of the Bridge Maintenance Program in 2007. This bridge carries a gas pipeline of the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO). The bridge had suffered severe corrosion.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is the main airport of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, China. In 2011, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport was China’s 2nd busiest and world’s 19th busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic, with 45,040,340 people handled. As for cargo traffic, the airport was the 3rd busiest in China and the 21st busiest worldwide. Guangzhou airport is also the 2nd busiest airport in terms of traffic movements in China

BURDEKIN BRIDGE

The Burdekin Bridge (known as the Silver Link) spans the Burdekin River between the towns of Ayr and Home Hill, Queensland, Australia. Located on the Bruce Highway which is part of Highway 1, it is an important link in the national road network.

RUNCORN ENERGY PLANT

Project Description

In 2011, the construction of a new Waste-to-Energy facility was started. This project ‘Runcorn II’ should be finished in 2014/2015.
The facility is located in Manchester, UK where it will offer a solution for the large amount of municipal waste by using this waste to produce up to 80 MW of electricity and 54 MW of heat.

The domestic terminals in Mumbai with the same name as its international wing are located in Santa Cruz, East. There are two domestic terminals -Terminal 1A (with an area of 28960 sqm), and Terminal 1B (with an area of 45000 sqm).

PACIFIC GRAIN ELEVATOR

In 1998 the company ‘Pacific Elevators LTD’ decided to refurbish their grain elevator in Vancouver.
After consulting with the consulting engineers from ‘Villholth Jensen and associates’ it was decided that ZINGA would be used on the 200 ton structure.

ZINGA was used on all the larger -non-mobile-parts of the structure

DORBRAS RAILWAY FIXATION PLATES

The railway company Dorbras was looking for a solution for the oxidation on the metal plates that are used for the fixation of rails onto the crossbeams. In April 1999 approx. 45000 zinganised fixation plates were installed.

BEIJING WATER PARK

The Beijing National Aquatics Center, also officially known as the National Aquatics Center,and colloquially known as the Water Cube, is an aquatics center that was built alongside Beijing National Stadium in the Olympic Green for the swimming competitions of the 2008 Summer Olympics. Despite its nickname, the building is not an actual cube, but a cuboid (a rectangular box).

SHELL TANKS

Project Description

Since 2006, 4 huge storage tanks for hydrocarbon products that are property of Shell have been repaired using a system based on ZINGA.

The biggest of these storage tanks measured 16 meters in height and 20 meters in diameter and has been repaired in November 2007. This storage tank (together with another one that was treated in August 2006) is located in Mohammedia.

The stadium was designed for use throughout the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. Located in the Olympic Green, the $ 423 million stadium is the world´s largest steel structure.
