The Sandesund Bridge is the 3rd longest bridge in Norway with a length of 1,528 metres. It was first built in 1978, with a parallel bridge constructed to double the number of lanes from two to four in 2008.
The main span of the bridge is a part of the E-6 motorway which is the main road from the
southern point of Sweden, right through Norway and up to the Russian border. The railings are along the walk path of the bridge which is partly down under and on the side of the bridge and is supported by about 300 of steel poles (railings). Even though the railings are not a part of the main road, the road salts and sands will always fall down on this path.
These railings were repaired with ZINGA in 2012.An inspection March 2018 showed no corrosion spots after 6 years.
